About Ansonia Ct Housing Authority
The Ansonia Housing Authority provides housing in two different ways: through housing they own and through the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Rental Assistance Programme (formerly known as Section 8).
The Housing Authority of Ansonia owns, operates, and maintains residential buildings throughout Ansonia.
Some residences are concentrated to create neighborhoods complete with community centers, gardens, and leisure areas.
Some are more suitable for families and others are more suitable for older adults.
HCV Rental Assistance Program
The HCV rental assistance program was established by the Housing and Community Development Act 1974.
The program, funded by HUD, was previously called Section 8 and provides rent subsidies to up to 647 low-income families living in private housing throughout Ansonia, Shelton, and Seymour.
Families pay around 30% of their income for housing and utilities.
The Ansonia Housing Corporation pays the landlord the difference between the payment standard and the amount donated by the family as a direct subsidy.
The HCV program is a partnership between private landlords, low-income families, and the housing authority.
Recognizing that all three need to work together to make this program successful, they thank the landlords for their contributions to this effort.
